At the 2019 World Championships in Gwangju, Quadarella won the 1500m freestyle title. In Doha, she regained that title, demonstrating her consistency and determination to remain at the top of her sport.

American Stars Absent, Curzan and Armstrong Triumph

With some of the United States' biggest swimming stars choosing not to compete in Doha, Claire Curzan and Hunter Armstrong seized the opportunity to claim victories. Curzan won the 100m backstroke, while Armstrong triumphed in the 200m individual medley.
