Eagles Announce Roster Cuts Ahead of the Season

Final Roster Takes Shape

The Philadelphia Eagles have trimmed their roster from 90 to 53 players ahead of the regular season deadline. The team made a series of moves on Tuesday, including releasing punter Arryn Siposs and several other players.

Familiar Faces Departed

Some notable departures include running back Jason Huntley, who rushed for 258 yards in the preseason, and wide receiver Jhamon Ausbon, a fourth-round pick in 2022. The Eagles also waived quarterback Reid Sinnett and defensive end Matt Leo, who had been with the team since 2020.

Additions and Competition

To fill the vacant spots, the Eagles signed punter Brett Kern and wide receiver Devon Allen. Kern is a veteran with 14 seasons of experience, while Allen is a former Olympic hurdler making the transition to football.

These roster moves set the stage for intense competition at key positions. Running back Boston Scott, Kenneth Gainwell, and Miles Sanders will battle for carries, while receivers Quez Watkins and Greg Ward are both looking to earn a starting role.

Final Preparations

The Eagles will wrap up their preseason schedule on Friday against the Miami Dolphins before officially beginning the regular season on September 11 against the Detroit Lions. The team will have one more opportunity to evaluate its roster and make any necessary adjustments before the season opener.
